Top 5 Letter Writing Essentials. Collaboration with Erin @ KittyJade *Jazz hands*

Hello beautiful people! How are you doing? I’m doing great and today I have an exciting post! It’s my first official collab (well kinda, I don’t exactly know) but anyways, as you saw in the title, I’m doing a collaboration with my friend, Erin, from KittyJade!

wow why did that low-key sound like a youtube video introduction?!

Over on her blog, I did a post about my top 5 extras to add in letters and in return she wrote this lovely post for me! I hope you enjoy and make sure to check out the post that I did on her blog, right here! Now onward to the post!

  1. Paper

The most basic component of letter-writing is always important. Firstly may I recommend unlined paper! Most of us can write in a straight line, and if you can’t, practice makes perfect. Paper without lines looks much neater but also gives off the correct ‘vibes’. Lined paper is what we associate with school work and studying, and your friend doesn’t want to be reading like a teacher marking a paper! Just bear that in mind. Also, you’ll need to think about what pen you’re using to dictate what thickness of paper you shall use.

  1. Pen

My go-to pen is the basic biro, but we are all different. Some prefer ink pens, or gel pens and maybe even quill and ink! If you are looking for a good gel writing pen I can recommend the Uniball Signo. Whatever pen you go for, just be aware of smudging and bleeding. Thin paper is ideal for a biro, but not for gel pens.

  1. Envelope

Of course, the envelope. You must always keep in mind the envelope size in ratio to paper. It’s not particularly nice to receive a letter folded over again and again. I usually opt for envelopes that are slightly smaller than A6.

  1. Stamp

You can’t send a letter without a stamp! These are the most costly part of letter-writing. Particularly with the current situation, letters won’t arrive as promptly as usual. However I still use 2nd Class stamps because they’re cheaper.

  1. Stickers

Although stickers aren’t necessary, they are a cute addition to any sort of mail. Either used on the seal of an envelope, or maybe throughout the writing! It just adds a bit of colour and maybe even humour to your correspondence. Jasmin wrote a whole post about cute things to add to your letters, so make sure to check that out after this one!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

And thats all for today! I think these are all essentials and I love the tips and insight Erin mentioned, she included some good points that I hadn’t even began to think about! Thank you so much for reading and make sure to check out Erin’s blog right here!

What are your letter writing essentials? Do you write letters? Hows the COVID19 situation going for you? I hope you’re all doing well! Talk to me in the comments, I’d love to chat!

x, Jasmin

  1. Erin/Jasmin this is such a cute post 💓 And that’s so awesome this is your first collaboration, I think I’ve done one or two but they’re so fun and honestly I’ve got to know a few bloggers really well through them! 💖 At the start of COVID19 me and my best friend sent letters to each other but now lockdown has been eased a title and were allowed to meet as long we social distance! Also can I just say how much I LOVE those book stickers?! Like ah I want some 😂 Hope you’re doing okay and this lockdown is treating you well 🙂 xx

    1. Awww I’m glad u enjoyed! They’re really fun but they can be a bit stressful for me as I’m not the most on-time person so a due date can be a struggle for me 😉
Oooo fun! Ahhh that’s so nice that you guys can get together now- following the 6 ft. distancing ofc 😉

      1. Aw of course! Oh no don’t worry once I totally forgot about a collab with another blogger (who shall not be named in case she is reading) and then I saw an email from her 5 whole minutes before we were posting saying ‘just a quick reminder that we’re posting in 5 minutes’ so I literally wrote the whole post up in that time but it was crazy stressful and awful quality! 😂
Yes it really is! It was so nice to see someone and talk to some my own age haha 😂 They really are, aw thanks! 🙂

      2. Ahaha that would actually be meeee 😂 I have a couple collars going on but the blogger I’m doing them with is really sweet and hasn’t given me a time to have it done by. Which may help actually because then I know I have to have something nailed down… No problem, thank you! 💕

      3. Haha yes! It’s so stressful though haha! 😂 That’s so nice, I like no pressure collabs, and even if it was deadlined, they’ve gotta give me AT LEAST a few weeks so I can procrastinate about it for a while then start 😂 True that, just try get it down when you’d like I guess! Awh no worries 🙂

  3. I love these tips!! Occasionally, I like to sit down and send out a few notes to friends or family; snail mail remains unbeatable in my book :’) I have loadddds of old stickers that I’m still making my way through, kinda excited to finish up my supply, so I can be justified in getting some new ones hehe x

  7. Thank you so much for letting me do this, Jasmin! I’m so happy with the positive response its received already. I’m very surprised to hear that this is your first collaboration. We’ll have to do another one soon! Fortunately, over in the UK, you can meet one person outside of your household (in a public place like a park) as long as you are two metres apart. So that’s great news – meaning less use for letters! Although I will still continue writing to my penpals.
    Take care Jasmin,
    Erin x

    1. No, thank YOU!!! I’m happy with the response too! I’m in the middle of doing some other collaborations but I’m not the best at them as the time change and such makes it hard to communicate and etc.
Ahh thats nice! We’re basically on house arrest, I’m starting to wonder where our governor is going with this and what his plan and intentions are but I hope life can get back to normal soon!
Thank you, you take care too,
      xx 💕

  9. Such a cute post!! ❤ Since I don't have an email address or a phone; letters is pretty much my only way to stay in touch, so I write a LOT. These are really useful. 😉

    Have a fantastic day!!
